“Aatinth Ek Dhees” – A Celebration of Tradition, Culture and Community at Christ Church, Manipal

On Sunday, 26 July 2026, the Stree Sangatan of Christ Church, Manipal , under the leadership of Mrs Cynthia Menezes, successfully organized Aatinth Ek Dhees, a vibrant celebration of the Aati season that beautifully showcased the rich cultural and culinary heritage of the coastal region. The event brought together parishioners of all ages for an evening filled with traditional performances, authentic cuisine, and joyful fellowship.

Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Romio Lewis appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Stree Sangatan members for preserving and promoting the region’s traditions through such meaningful initiatives. He encouraged the parish community to continue nurturing these cultural values and passing them on to future generations.

A major highlight of the evening was the traditional cultural programme, where parishioners presented folk dances, songs,reflecting the customs, traditions, and spirit of the Aati season. The colourful presentations captivated the audience and celebrated the vibrant cultural identity of the Konkani community. Children, youth, and adults enthusiastically participated, making the programme both entertaining and inspiring.

Following the cultural programme, parishioners enjoyed a grand traditional food festival, featuring a wide variety of authentic homemade delicacies prepared by the members of Stree Sangatan. From seasonal vegetarian specialties and local favourites to delicious snacks, sweets, and refreshing beverages, every stall reflected the rich culinary traditions of coastal Karnataka. The beautifully decorated stalls and the aroma of freshly prepared food created a festive atmosphere that was enjoyed by everyone.
