Manipal, August 16, 2026: Christ Church, Manipal, joyfully celebrated Altar Servers’ Day on Sunday, August 16, 2026, during the 8:00 a.m. Holy Mass, with a special Thanksgiving Mass offered in gratitude for the dedicated service of the altar servers of the parish.
The celebration was organized by the Altar Servers’ Sodality, under the dedicated guidance and leadership of its Animators, Mr. Martin Noronha and Mr. Ashley John, with the support and coordination of Mrs. Simple Cutinha, Coordinator of the Commission for Seminary and Religious Formation.
A significant highlight of the celebration was the installation of seven altar servers into the Altar Servers’ Sodality. The newly installed members were welcomed into the Sodality and encouraged to carry out their ministry at the altar with devotion, discipline, reverence and a spirit of joyful service.
As part of the Altar Servers’ Day activities, an Elocution Competition had been organized on the previous Sunday. During the celebration, the Parish Priest presented prizes to the winners, appreciating their enthusiastic participation and encouraging them to continue developing their talents and confidence.
The occasion was also an opportunity for the parish community to recognize the important role played by altar servers in the liturgical life of the Church. Through their regular service during the Holy Eucharist and other liturgical celebrations, they assist the priests and contribute towards maintaining the prayerful and reverent atmosphere of the liturgy.
Special appreciation and gratitude were expressed to Mr. Martin Noronha and Mr. Ashley John for their dedicated efforts in training, guiding and mentoring the altar servers, as well as for their valuable contribution towards organizing the Altar Servers’ Day celebration.
The Commission for Seminary and Religious Formation also thanked all those who supported the programme and encouraged the altar servers to remain committed to their ministry. The celebration served as a reminder that serving at the altar is not merely a responsibility but also an opportunity for young people to grow closer to God, deepen their faith and develop discipline, leadership and a spirit of service.
Following the Solemn Thanksgiving Mass, refreshments were served to the altar servers and those present, providing a joyful opportunity for fellowship and interaction. The gathering added to the spirit of celebration and brought the Altar Servers’ Day observance to a warm and memorable conclusion.
